About Me

April 29, 2019

Hi(:

My name is Shiri Nativ Kirmayer.
I am 26, married to Alon and mother to Puch, our dog.

A few months ago, I finished my bachelor’s degree in interior design.

Ever since I remember myself, I have been attracted to creative fields – whether its drawing, sculpting or dance. I took every possible class as a young girl, but I quickly grew tired of each one, not staying the course for years. The only field I couldn’t leave was acting.

For years, my biggest dream was to become an actress, especially theater acting but I was also interested in television and films. As a girl who grew up in Northern Israel (in the Izrael Valley), it was difficult for me to find a place for myself in this field, especially due to the distance and long journeys to central Israel. Slowly, due to a lack of confidence and an inner-voice telling me – “what makes you think you’ll succeed?” – this dream gradually slipped away.

I played a few small parts in some TV series and music videos, but nothing was big enough to stuck. After my military service (and of course, after a big amazing trip to South America), I started to study interior design. At first, up until mid-degree, I felt that I had found my place.

However, during the summer between second year and the third, something changed.
I suddenly realized that this was not really what I wanted to do with my life.

I decided that despite the difficulties and hesitations that I should continue my studies so I wouldn’t feel that I had wasted two years of my life. After four packed and exhausting years, I completed my degree, with a pretty decent GPA’ I must say (;

A month after I finished, I married Alon, so the entire year prior to the wedding, my thoughts were focused on wedding plans and I didn’t think about the important question of “What am I going to do with myself after I finish my degree?” A week after the wedding we traveled to Rome for our Mini – Moon. (recommendations and itinerary for a 3-day trip to Rome).

When we returned home, I suddenly was hit with the question – What now?

For a few months, I looked for a job in interior design; I knew it wasn’t what I wanted, but I was afraid to lose momentum after completing the degree, while I still had the legitimate excuse of having no experience in that field. After a few months, I decided I was tired of living according to what was the right thing to do for the future and started looking at what was best for me in the present.
What was the field I could work in and also enjoy the process?

So, I opened a small graphic design studio focusing on business branding and design of invitations for events called Studio Shishi and also began working on my blog, which I named TheCompassit – which has a double meaning – Small Compass and Compass It!

The blog deals with the subjects I love most – Travel, LifeStyle, Food, Design, etc.

I hope you’ll like it (:
